Explore Machu Picchu and Peru

The lush green peaks of the Andes surround the ruins of Machu Picchu, one of the world’s great archaeological wonders. On a custom Peru family trip you spend time exploring the Lost City of the Incas, the Sacred Valley and Cusco’s markets with your guide, but you also get to choose the departure dates and the activities that suit your family. You can meet a local ceramic artist in his Urubamba studio, ride on horseback through Andean villages, fly fish, mountain bike and rock climb.

“The private departures are very popular with multigenerational families,” says Kathy Stewart, Butterfield & Robinson spokesperson, who estimates that their multigenerational trips have increased by 20% in the last five years. “That’s one of the reasons we’ve changed the schedule for those once in a lifetime trips — Peru, Costa Rica, Galapagos, “We used to have set departures once or twice a year, but because of interest, especially by multigenerational groups, we now offer private departures and these are available more often. ”

The eight-day/seven-night Peru Family Private trip is available March through December. Prices start at $6,495 per person. butterfield.com
